British Wildlife Art in the Woodland Realm

The Woodland Realm is the heart of my British wildlife art—a quiet, myth‑touched world inspired by the real creatures of the Forest of Dean. Here, foxes, owls, deer and river guardians step out of the trees and into pastel, becoming watchful beings who protect the land Atwixt Two Rivers. Each piece begins as original wildlife art, then finds its place within this realm of story, atmosphere and memory.

The Guardians of the Woodland Realm

The guardians of the Woodland Realm are how I bring British wildlife art and quiet folklore together. Every creature begins with time spent watching real animals in the Forest of Dean, sketching their posture, light and movement before they become pastel guardians. This is where my work as a British wildlife artist lives most fully—half rooted in real woodland, half in the realm between.

Four Foxes of the Compass

The Four Foxes of the Compass protect the boundaries of the Realm, just as real foxes patrol the edges of fields and woodland. These pieces are drawn from original wildlife art studies of foxes in the Forest of Dean, then shaped into guardians who remember every path and turning. Their fur, light and watchfulness are painted in my pastel wildlife art style, balancing realism with a sense of something unseen.

Keepers of the Ancient Skies

The Keepers of the Ancient Skies are inspired by owls, kites and other birds that circle above the forest canopy. As a British wildlife artist, I study the tilt of a wing, the way feathers catch dusk light, and then fold that into the Realm as sky‑watching guardians. These beings watch over wind, starlight and the quiet hours when most of the woodland sleeps.

Protectors of the Brambled Hedgerows

The Protectors of the Brambled Hedgerows are shaped by the hidden lives of hedgehogs, badgers and small creatures that move through tangled edges. Their designs grow from my wildlife art prints and sketches of British hedgerows—thorn, leaf, shadow and the rustle of something just out of sight. In the Woodland Realm, they defend the boundaries where wildness and safety meet.

Sentinels of the Underwood

The Sentinels of the Underwood belong to the dim, moss‑soft places beneath the trees. Deer, boar and unseen watchers of the forest floor influence these guardians, drawn from original wildlife art studies made in the Forest of Dean. This side of my British wildlife art leans into atmosphere—glow, shadow and the feeling of being watched kindly from the dark.

Wardens of the Riverways

The Wardens of the Riverways are inspired by otters, herons and the restless pull of water through the woodland. Their forms come from observing real river wildlife, then translating that movement into pastel wildlife art—reflections, ripples and the silver of moonlight on water. In the Realm, they guard the streams and rivers that thread the land Atwixt Two Rivers together.
