Meet Dolly and Peggy. These two charmers are to be one of my graphite pencil portraits, they have been commission as a birthday gift for their owner as a surprise.
As usual I begin on the right hand side of the portrait as I am left handed. Graphite pencils smudge so much more than cooured pencils so I always have to be extra careful when doing a graphite pencil portrait. This is Peggy, she is a golden retriever.
I have started work on the second dog, she is called Dolly and is a rescued springer spaniel poodle cross. Spaniels usually always have curly ears and Dolly is even more curly than normal due to her poodle parentage I think, she still had the shiny fur of a spaniel though. I love spaniels and I think she looked more spaniel than poodle. What a lovely pair of dogs.
Just the chest of Peggy to be drawn now, this was a lovely portrait to do and although it was a rush it was very enjoyable.
Annette who made the commission left me the following message...
"received today thank you so much especially doing a last minute job. It is brillant..."
This is the best news to receive as a pet portrait artist.
