The use of colour pencils is still very uncommon and is a stunning alternative to paints which do not always do justice to a subject as fine detail is lost within brush strokes. I use Derwent soft colour pencils, these pencils have a soft waxy quality which creates an almost oil painting quality but much much more detailed.   Graphite Pencil Portraits from photos are highly detailed pieces of art. Fine detail is captured with each pencil stroke. The sheen of fur is captured wonderfully with this medium. This is the original portrait medium and still a firm favourite. An affordable way of having a pet portrait produced. . ACEOs are small cards sized 2.5" x 3.5" which in times past were used as a swap item and no cash was exchanged. However, with the boom of the internet they became an affordable way of collecting artwork or commissioning individual pieces without it costing an enormous amount of money. OSWOA (Original Small Works of Art) cards are a little larger at 4" x 6" or 6" x 4" and are considered postcard size which fit into photo albums.
