  • Why do I need to make a non-refundable deposit? This is simply to deter time-wasters and to ensure I do not invest a lot of time and effort into a portrait for no monetary reward. Only those serious in making a commission will continue.
  •
  • How long will my commission take? Usually about 4 - 8 weeks, however this is solely determined by the current work load. If you do require a portrait for a certain deadline simply email or telephone and I can give a completion date immediately.
  • Can you put images from different photographs together? Yes this has been done, please try to ensure your images are in proportion though as without seeing your subjects in person I will not know sizes. See the pencil portraits from photos commission info page for an example of this
  • What frame will I need? You will receive information with your commission stating which size frame you require and some advice about framing.
  • Will I need to pay postage? Postage to any UK mainland delivery address is free, for any other destination please contact me and I will quote you.
  • Which is the better medium? This is simply a matter of taste, graphite pencil was the old fashioned portrait medium and is still going strong. Colour pencils offer all the advantages of paints but allow extreme detail to be captured resulting in a truly vibrant portrait.
  • What if I'm not happy with the finished portrait? This should never happen (it hasn't yet) as you are able to leave feedback as your portrait is shown progressing on the website, if at anytime you have any concerns simply email me and I will rectify your portrait.
  • What does it mean when you say 'the artist retains the image rights'? Although you have purchased the portrait and it is from your photograph, the pencil portrait has been created by myself and I am able to use it as I see fit (examples on my website, prints of originals, using as an example of work) but I will respect anyone's wishes if they do not wish their portrait to be shown on my website as a gesture of goodwill. I always check a customer is happy for me to show the portrait as a work in progress.
