My Home and Garden

We are lucky enough to live in the beautiful county of Herefordshire but also just on the edge of the Royal Forest of Dean. Our house is buried deep in the woods up an old forestry track and I literally walk out of my gate or to the bottom of my garden to take my dogs for a walk.
We also have plenty of land which enables us to keep our small zoo of animals. Find out more about them here.

Tractors, Lawn Mowers, Bikes and Watering Cans!

Just a few of the things my other half collects with gusto. We are currently working on our 4th tractor renovation and have another in a field awaiting delivery!
We have tractor races around the orchard in the summer, alas I am not too skilled and have almost ran over the dog, crashed into a tree and smashed into chicken pen.
We also have a large and ever growing collection of lawn mowers. Ronnie insists he is going to do them all up. He also has several bikes in various states of repair and the tractor shed is rapidly beginning to look like a scrap yard!
As for watering cans, there really is no explanation as to why we have so many, almost 20 now, some even have holes in the bottom!

Local Woods

The Royal Forest of Dean is a spectacular place to live or visit. The wildlife here is abundant and unusual. I regularly see deer and boar as I walk around. The local woods on my doorstep are less inhabited though aside from goshawks and buzzards who regularly pop by our garden to eye up the birds!

The Royal Forest of Dean

Symonds Yat is world reknowned for the peregrine falcons nesting in the rocks. From the viewpoint you can see them through RSPB binoculars and their young are followed each year as they fledge. Read more about the area
here

The view itself is quite breath-taking and the u-bend of the River Wye can be seen in detail.

Vintage Steam Rallies

I could be a tractor widow as most weekends from April to October there are vintage steam rallies being held. Luckily Willow and myself thoroughly enjoy going along. Most have stalls and activities such as dog agility and tractor racing to watch and sometimes demonstrations. My favourites are at Builth Wells, Welland, Kington, Hay-on-Wye and Abergavenny so we do travel about a fair bit.

Meet my pets and find out all about them and see more photos in my albums
